When a young donkey crossed our path
on one of our tours, we were reminded of a book from our
childhood days: “My Donkey Benjamin”, a magical story
about little Susi, a young donkey called Benjamin and their
adventures together on a Mediterranean island. And suddenly
we had the idea for our next adventure: a hiking tour with
donkeys. But if you’re thinking: that can’t be right, donkeys
are stubborn and obstinate, then you’re very wrong! Donkeys
are extremely placid, patient and attentive animals and there-
fore the ideal companions for walking tours.
The donkey trek was absolutely brilliant for our little hikers.
They immediately took a shine to their friendly and gentle
four-legged friends Camillo, Wally and Gretel and didn’t let
go of their ropes once. At a relaxed pace they safely led their
new friends over sticks and stones, up mountains and down
valleys. They had fun stroking and feeding them – and
when it came to saying goodbye a few tears were also shed.
But there was no reason to be sad. After all, we knew we’d
definitely be coming back!
